Our First Two Days in D.C., continued

Firestar began this post this morning, however, we got busy with our day before it was completed and it was accidentally posted. So now we have spent 3 days in Washington D.C., and what a busy 3 days it has been!

We have covered all of the major monuments and National Mall, admired the White House, visited the National Archives, Science Museum, National Museum of Natural History, National Museum of American History, and National Gallery of Art. We also spent some time shopping and walking around Georgetown.

Some of the amazing things we have seen include the flag that inspired the Star Spangled Banner, the actual Declaration of Independence, Constitution and Bill of Rights, the Hope diamond, and more wonderful art, artifacts and wonderful exhibits at the Smithsonian museums than I ever imagined! We couldn't begin to see it all, even if we had the energy!

All of this has been fun, memorable and educational, however, I'm here to tell you that the best part of D.C. is the food!! We haven't had access to good ethnic food since we moved to our current location, and boy have we missed it. We had the most amazing Thai food last night. (Sparrow lost her tooth there!) On every corner there is Ethiopian, Vietnamese, Italian, etc. Plus cupcake shops everywhere, and gelato! We even saw a cupcake van stand on the street. Tonight we are heading out for Greek- tapas style! Can't wait!

The weather has been beautiful, just a little bit of rain. We are blessed to be enjoying a wonderful trip. The hard part tomorrow will be deciding how to spend our last day; there is still so much to see, and so many restaurants to try...

I'm adding a few pics for E!

We were so disappointed to find the beautiful reflecting pool under construction!
